going back to Cali

Before 2006, I had never set foot in California, and now this year I'll be going there for a 2nd time in 3 months and neither time will I have to pay a single dime. In January I was in the San Diego area for 3 days because my company has an office in Vista California (about 30 minutes north of San Diego) Now, I'm going to a SAS conference (http://support.sas.com/usergroups/sugi/sugi31/index.html) in San Francisco this coming week for 4 nights. I don't like everything about my job but the trips to Cali are a nice plus.

March Madness

It looks like March Madness is upon us again with the NCAA tournament starting this year. Although, I haven't followed college basketball as much this year as in past years it's always exciting to follow the tournament. I'll probably fill out a bracket at work or do one online with some friends. I'll probably be rooting for Villanova since Penn State isn't in the tournament and the Villanova campus is probably only 10 miles from my apartment. So they are the local team that I will be cheering for. Go Nova!

Philly vs. State college bars

It seems that recently State College crime has been on the increase with a stabbing at a bar a couple of weeks ago and then another murder of a college student at an apartment. (check out article below) As I thought about it I don't think I've seen a fight in any philly area bar that I've been to in at least a year or so. However, I do remember seeing one in State College during that time. (although it was a fairly minor fight) It seems Philly bars are becoming safer then State College, or at least the bars I go too. I'll be up at PSU next weekend and again for Blue and White weekend in later April. Maybe I should bring a bullet proof vest up for the weekend.
