disaster TV

What's up with all the disaster shows i've been seeing on TV. Tonight I saw a little bit of a show on the history channel on the 1906 San Fran earthquake and what would happen if a similar quake hit today. (it was pretty interesting) The name of the show was 'mega disasters'. I briefly saw another show on the discovery channel on what would happen if a tornado hit downtown Dallas. Then I saw a commercial on the weather channel about another disaster scenario show. I know we've had the Asian Tsunami, Katrina, and Pakistan earth quake over the past 16 months, but I didn't think disaster TV shows would be everywhere. In one night of channel flipping I saw 3 different channels showing either a disaster show or commercial preview for future show.

Barry Bonds

I generally don't feel sorry for people who are well known to be jerks, but I make an exception for Barry Bonds. Rarely do I ever see a professional athlete attacked so much. Many people think Bonds uses steroids, and it may well be true, however there hasn't been any definite evidence of it, as Bonds has passed previous drug tests. It seems that now days people are guilty until proven innocent. It's kind of similar to Saddam Hussein who everybody said had weapons of mass destruction, yet during the 90's weapons inspectors never found any, during 2003 before the war started when the weapons inspectors went back in none were found, and over the past 3 years of American occupation no WMD's have been found. It looked like Hussein didn't have any and it could as well be possible that Bonds may have never used steroids.

Even if he did use steroids he definitely wasn't the only player, and it's not like using stroids is some kind of serious crime. He's not a rapist or murderer, yet the publicity he gets is something that is warranted for a criminal. He may have been a jerk to the media in the past, and maybe he deserves some bad publicity but I'm beginning to feel sorry for the guy. Steroids or no steroids he is without a doubt the best baseball player over the last decade (if not ever) and eventhough steroids may help with power they don't help with hand eye coordination or with patience at the plate both of which he probably has more then any other player in the league. He should be in the hall of fame and he shouldn't have an asterik to any records that he sets. If O.J. is in the football hall of fame Bonds should definitely be in the baseball hall of fame.
